Jimsie started in the Queensland Director of Training (DoT) in 1997. Prior to that, she was a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist at The Prince Charles Hospital. She has always had an interest in medical education and took up the position so as to further this interest. The DoT position was initially a 0.5 FTE with 1 administration officer. Jimsie has overseen an increase of the Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry team to the current positions of 4.5 FTE of Directors of Training and 6.5 temporary and permanent administration staff to support the training program. The training program has also grown from 76 Trainees to 340 in 22 years.

In addition to participating in the Queensland Training Committees, Jimsie has had significant involvement with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry with positions on many committees including Committee for Training, of which she is currently the Deputy Chair, Accreditation Committee, Specialist Training Program and the Ethics Committee. She is also the Director of Advanced Training for the Adult Certificate which currently has almost 20 Trainees enrolled in Queensland. Jimsie's focus is to continue to develop support and enhance the training experience and outcomes for all Trainees in Queensland and to oversee the development of resources and support which ensure equitable access for regional trainees.
